Making Progress

We had our 3rd ultrasound yesterday and I'm so happy to report that Baby Jones is doing great!!  S/he is just the right size and has a perfectly strong heartbeat.  S/he's 8 weeks and about the size of a grape!  Arms and legs have grown and fingers and toes are taking shape.  Lots of amazing changes!

When we discovered we were pregnant again we felt some anxiety, especially surrounding ultrasounds.  My doctor said she wanted to monitor me each week and eventually every other week.  I was relieved to know that if something does happen, we would know sooner rather than later.  On the other hand I was so excited that we would get to see weekly growth of our little bun in the oven.   It's very difficult to manage such opposing feelings...being so overjoyed and yet also prepared for bad news at the same time.  I'm sure I'll have some anxiety next week when ultrasound day nears, but every week that goes by problem free makes me feel just a little more secure with this pregnancy.

Dr. Missy said that with each successful ultrasound, where the baby shows to be right on track with a strong heartbeat, our chances of miscarriage decrease significantly.  This is incredibly comforting to hear especially because of our history with miscarriage.

We have another ultrasound next Thursday!  We should be able to see more definition of the arms and legs and also the shape of the body.  By week 10 we should be able to see the baby moving!  I'm amazed by the changes that happen every day!  Keep growing little one!
