Last night Brian took me out for sushi! I was craving shrimp tempura so we decided to go to Tokyo Sushi where we found the most delish special rolls. We always ask the sushi chef to create something new that's not on the menu and he always manages to make something artistically beautiful and equally as tasty.
When we usually go for sushi I eat tuna, salmon, octopus, yellow tail, whitefish....lots of raw fish! And those of you who have a sushi habit like me, know how expensive it can be. Well, now that I'm pregnant I can't eat raw fish anymore so sushi dinners are much cheaper than usual!
Last night I was so excited to have sushi, but I knew I would have to keep it fetus friendly, so I ordered some fish free California Rolls (crab, avocado, cucumber) and a Manhattan Roll (shrimp tempura, spicy crab, cooked eel & eel sauce). Brian ordered spicy tuna & yellow tail rolls, which made me a little jealous (for a split second), but I was quite content with the sushi I was able to order. I was even more content with the price of those fish free items!
I had some leftovers (only 4 pieces but I was not about to let them go to waste) so I saved them for a little snack later and I was so happy to discover that they were 80% as good the next day as they were when they were fresh! While those 4 bites were so good, it just wasn't enough to satisfy my taste buds. I'm counting down the minutes until we go back for another cheap (and oh so delicious) date!
