Big Plans! Little Kitchen!

Sam's little play kitchen is coming along! This has been a very fun and easy DIY project so far. We modified an old kitchen cabinet, painted it and then installed some recycled plumbing hardware. I painted the pantry the same color as the countertop and the oven is a realistic dark grey color. The oven door has a plexiglass window to peak in to see what's cookin' on the oven rack which is actually a cookie cooling rack. It also has spinning oven knobs that have been spray painted silver to look like stainless steel (pictured below). The stovetop burner is a trivet attached to a wood disc, which is an old cutting board we had laying around ... So easy to make! This project has been very affordable as well. Here's the breakdown...

Used Cabinet - $25 from RESTORE, a Habitat for Humanity store
Used Plumbing - $10 RESTORE
Sink - free recycled dog dish
Wood for stove burner - free old cutting board
Chrome stove burner - $7 trivet, Bed, Bath & Beyond
Oven rack - free recycled cookie cooling rack
Plexiglass window for oven door - free
Wood oven knobs - free
Silver spray paint for oven knobs - free
Handles for doors and towel rack - leftover from our real IKEA kitchen.
Chalkboard Stars for the side of pantry -free, one of Sam's First birthday gifts
Touch light for oven - $5 from Target
Paint - $6 for multiple sample sizes of different colors.

The last items to be added are the pantry and oven door with handle and twisting oven knobs, a touch light for inside the oven, and a towel bar. Stay tuned for more to come!
