Bit by the Christmas Bug!

The other day Brian and I started talking about the upcoming holidays and the discussion led to Christmas shopping. It seemed so early to start this talk but when I actually looked at the calendar, I realized Christmas is right around the corner! Yipee!

For the past few years I've been able to get my shopping done before Thanksgiving. Last year I was among the mobs and gobs of people shopping on Black Friday. At 11:50pm, I spontaneously decided to stand in a mile long line at Target at midnight (like everyone else in Columbus) just to leave the store with a total of 5 items... All 3 Twilight movies (for myself), The Blind Side Movie (also for myself!), and a video game for Jackson. I wouldnt exactly say it was worth the waiting in lines and losing that precious sleep, but it was really fun. ;)

This evening Brian took Jackson for a Cub Scout meeting and I took Sam to Toys R Us for a preview of what (gifts) we'd like to purchase from Amazon. Sam and I meandered through the store snapping pictures of toys and pulling them up online to compare prices. I only found 2 items in the store that were cheaper than Amazon. They were on sale so I snatched them up!

At Sam's tumbling class he really loved the little activity cones used, so I picked some up today to stash away. I also got the cutest owl block stacker made by Melissa and Doug. Awesome brand toys! Love them all.

We've been asking Jackson what he'd like to ask Santa for this year and he keeps saying an electric scooter. I thought he meant a motorized Razr scooter until Brian told me about some kids down the street that have a motorized moped-type scooter, which Jackson apparently really really really wants. So, I googled a picture and checked them out. No clue about safety yet, but so far the age range begins at 3 years old depending on the size, so I can't imagine they are that unsafe if toddlers can manage them. We'll have to see one in person before we make a decision on something like that. And if we did get him one, we'd probably make him wear football pads and cover himself in bubble wrap when he rides it. Not kidding! ;)

Today Sam had a play date with his good buddy Anna. They've been 'playing' together since they were only a few weeks old! Anna's mommy, Sarah and I were pregnant at the same time which was fun and it's been really great to watch our little people grow big enough to play with Little People together! I tried to take pics of them but they didn't sit still long enough. Every shot was a blurred mess, so I gave up. Anyway, I got some great ideas for toys for Sam for Christmas because Lady Anna has tons of things that he doesn't have. His favorites today were Playmobil 1.2.3 figures and play sets and a bag full of pit balls. Seriously... a bag full of balls? I can handle that!

Last year was a pretty phenomenal Christmas Season, and I've already got good vibes for this year. I planned my cookie swap menu and began shopping for gifts. I think we're off to an awesome start!
