We're so lucky to live near one of the country's best zoos, The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium! I haven't been to many zoos but ours is pretty cool. The Director of the zoo, Jack Hanna, whom you may have seen on tv before, really put a lot of time (20+ years) and money ($millions!) into cleaning it up and making it a great tourist destination boasting a water park, golf course and an amusement park. We have a family membership and come often. And by often, I mean at least two or three times per month. It's located about 3 miles up the road from our house so it would be silly not to go all the time! It gets us outside and we always see and learn something new about some of our planet's amazing creatures! We can go year round, so we never have an excuse to just sit around and do nothing. Columbus is chalk full of cool stuff to do, and the zoo is definitely at the top of my list!
