Project Nursery: A very whimsy beginning

Brian had to go to Cincinnati today for a meeting so I went along for the ride...to Ikea!   This was my very first trip the mega-store and I must admit I am exhausted tonight! We started planning the nursery with a vintage bird theme, but it has evolved quite a bit in the past 8 hours!   After 15 minutes of exploring the children's textiles section of Ikea, the nursery started to take on a new life of it's own.   One by one, things found their way into my cart.  And one by one, I would replace those items with something different.  Finally, 4 hours later, we had the perfect combination of bedding, accents and accessories.

I was immediately drawn to some very whimsical bedding with frogs.  I was surprised by my positive reaction to the frogs (not really my style), but the patterns and colors are not offensive at all.  This design of this line seemed very delicate and sweet, but also fun.  The color palate is wide, so we have lots of room for variety.

Brian is still making a whimsical bird mobile and now his vision is more clear.  We also have a better idea of what type of wall art we'll chose.   We found a few matted frames and a fabulous round mirror today along with some fabric for curtains, throw pillows or whatever.   The nursery doesn't have a closet so we need lots of practical storage containers and furniture.  I picked up some cute bins and baskets for diaper supplies and toys.

Overall, today was quite a success.  Brian had a good meeting in Cinci with his fellow Attorney General peeps and I accessorized the entire nursery for under $xxx.xx!  The most expensive item on the menu was $39.   And the cheapest was $1.49.   Not bad considering I have a big vision for this little room.  I love me some Ikea!

I grew up in Pittsburgh and drove by IKEA on a regular basis, but never went in. Now I live in Columbus and went to the Cinci store and was totally overwhelmed! The store is very well organized, but jam packed - sensory overload!

Ooh! I love me some ikea as well! We have the blue Dr Suess looking crib. Not that our toddler ever sleeps in it!
