This past weekend we went Lynd Fruit Farm with Shawnie, Kevin and Grammie & our niece Sarah (both from Pittsburgh). My mom was super excited about going to the farmer's market as there aren't many (or perhaps any!) farmer's markets in her neighborhood in Pittsburgh. Since it was a Saturday it was pretty busy, but we still managed to fill a wagon full of fresh jam, cider, Dutch apple pie, carrot cake, fudge and lots of treats and navigate it through the sea of shoppers to the cashier!
After hitting the market, Shawnie, Kevin and Sarah went apple picking and found a few pumpkins in the patch! Later that day, they carved and painted their pumpkins and also made a french apple cake. Even though Shawnie doesn't claim to be much of a baker, I was quite impressed with her very tasty cake (pictured below)! Well done, Seester!

While the rest of the clan was harvesting apples and pumpkins, Grammie, Brian, Sam and I went through a corn maze which was carved out in the theme of the Wizard of Oz. We had to follow the yellow brick road through the cyclone, past the wicked witches head, around Emerald City and back home by way of a hot air balloon that floated across a rainbow! It took us about 30 minutes to make our way through the maze and luckily we didn't get lost or abducted by any flying monkeys!
What a super fun day with our family! I just love this time of year! Until next time!.....
