Crazy for Mid Century Modern

When we first moved into our house, which was a shocking 5 years ago already, we weren't sure how to decorate.  Big Bown was built in the early 80's and has some quirky characteristics.  It was hard to find a cool balance of styles that matched both of our tastes and still suited the space of the house , so we just sort of filled rooms with whatever was simple and neutral. Someone once said my house was decorated like a hotel, so we needed to add our own personal taste, stat.  Since then we have really put some effort into redecorating and we finally found our sweet spot.  Mid century modern!

Last summer I became a nut for vintage Pyrex and old glassware and that turned into an obsession with anything mid century modern.  Sometime last summer we stumbled upon an estate sale looking for pyrex and fell in love with an old vintage console stereo from the early 50's. It's been fun redecorating around it and I'm very excited about some of the treasures we've found along the way.

Here are a few pieces from my personal Pyrex collection. We have 100+ more pieces in our collection, which are listed on my shop Lime Flamingo (www.limeflamingo.com).

We feel like we step back into the past when we play records on this beauty. The Telefunken turn table works and sounds great and the Korting wood console is in perfect condition. I don't know how we lucked out getting our hands on it!

Danish candlestick holders from the 50's

Grundig Majestic stereo console from 1959. Mint condition!

Vintage cast iron jack bookend. Love!
Mid century Koch and Lowy lamp.

Vintage corner hanging lamp.  This belonged to Brian's grandparents and we feel so lucky to have acquired it!

Vintage hassock.  Another piece from Bian's grandparents.

I can't pass up a cane back barrel chair! The peacock blue fabric is gorgeous. We have an orange barrel chair too.

We got two matching green vinyl and wood Jasper chairs for a steal at a consignment shop.  They're in beautiful mint condition.

Mid century magazine rack. We repurposed it to hold records.

This Fred Press designed Federal glass chaffing dish sits on our bar. I look at it at least 10 times a day.

I'm now on a mission to find THIS dinette for our kitchen. I'm absolutely head over heels for it!   I came across this particular set online but it's in a shop in Texas, so my goal this summer is to track down something local. Wish me luck!
