Baby Proofing
Now that Sam is mobile, we've started baby proofing the house. We ordered baby gates on Tuesday, which already arrived today. Brian will install them this week/end. We still have to cover outlets and move some not-so-baby-friendly trinkets from around the house, but there really isn't much to do. This is going to be the perfect time for Sam to learn the word "No". We would like for him to learn his way around the house and all the things in it. Over time he'll learn what he can and cannot touch or play with. I'm sure he'll bump into things and get into precarious situations at first, but soon he'll know the ropes. I recently read an article where a family actually removed all the tables in their house to keep the baby from bumping into them. Extreme measures, in my opinion. If we didn't have them, what would Sam crawl under? What would he use to learn to pull himself up? Where would I put my feet up after he's gone to bed - tuckered from chasing him around the house all day?! Clearly, we need our tables!
