Since updating our kitchen, we lived without shades or window treatments for months after the kitchen was actually complete. At first it felt like we were living in a fish bowl, but after a while we got use to it. Eventually someone asked if we were planning to install blinds, so we realized it was time to get the job done. I knew I wanted to put roman shades up in the seating area of the kitchen, so I did some searching and found very affordable shades from JC Penny's. A week later Brian installed them and, bam!, we had shades!
Later I found some fabric and made a curtain for the window above the sink and used the leftover material for table runners. I'm quite happy with the outcome considering I didn't use a sewing machine for anything. No-sew hem tape works just as good!
