Kitchen Project

When we first moved into Big Brown we had grand plans for our big ol' kitchen.  It's the original kitchen from the mid 80's so I'm sure you can imagine that it's time for an update, however it has held up surprisingly well.   There was no immediate need to tear everything out since it was all in working order, plus we had so many other things going on that we just didn't have the time or resources to manage a project of this size.  Between getting married and having a baby, we had our hands full!  Anyway, as you can see below, our kitchen could use a little lovin' and that's just what she's gonna get this summer!

When cabinet doors began falling off and drawers started collapsing recently, we knew it was time for that much needed update.  Brian has experience building and has remodeled a kitchen in the past, so we decided to tackle this project on our own.  After closing on a refinance and then getting a second loan, we're ready to start planning!   We've looked at some designs in the past and have a pretty good idea of what we want.  I have a few minor requirements for our new kitchen, like a trash drawer, some more storage and a new pantry, but I'm trusting Brian to make sure we are fully equipped to rock out some fabulous family dinners!  We're also updating the wet bar in the living room, the laundry area and the bathroom next to the kitchen.  I can't tell you how excited I am about a new front-loading washer and dryer.  Yes, it's lame that I'm excited by that, but I don't care!  I do a lot of laundry and want some fancy new tools to make the job easier.  Brian's excited about a fridge in the wet bar.  Go figure!  ;)   Anyway, I'm sure we'll have lots of pics and updates to post soon! Stay tuned!
