Plenty of Puffs

I was at the market yesterday picking up baby food and I decided to scope out some new snacks for Sam. He's been eating cherrios by the handfuls lately so I though he could use some variety. I came across Gerber Gradutes Puffs and they seemed to fit the bill perfectly: easily dissolves, whole grain, natural ingredients...spot on!

After dinner we decided to try a few puffs and see how Sam liked them. Immediate hit! I gave him a small handful and within a minute they were gone! I wasn't sure how many he should have so I read the container for a proper serving size. I was shocked to see that a single serving is 73 peices! Seventy-three!! My immediate thought was "Nooo... This can't be right!?!?". I kept reading and the label called the serving size "about half a cup". I couldn't believe that 73 star shaped puffs could fit into a 1/2 cup measuring cup, so Brian and I conducted an experiment. We actually counted to see how many puffs would fit!

Brian filled the cup and I started counting like Noah, two by two. Two, four, six.....22, 24, 26.....56, 58!.... 70, 72, 74!!.....92, 94, 95!! Yes, 95 Puffs. I was shocked by the results! Considering Sam's belly is only the size of his tiny fist (maybe a 1/4 cup), I think the serving size is too large. 73 puffs... What were they thinking! These are just a snack, afterall!
