Contraction Action
What the heck does a real contraction feel like?!?! I am so confused about them. I've been having Braxton Hicks contractions for months. My belly gets hard but there is no discomfort or pain. I was told to expect them to get stronger and last longer. OK, so then what should I expect when real contractions start? Will my belly still get hard? My dr said to look for a hard belly and cramps. Then my mom (who has had many babies herself!) said to look for cramps, but my belly won't get hard. Then a friend of mine said look for back pain and cramps. At this point I am so confused and afraid I'll be in labor and not even know it! Most woman say "Oh, you'll know it"! Anyway, I put a call in to my OB to ask these basic (and probably silly) questions!

I never had contractions. My water broke at 39w4d and so they put me on the monitors and I was having contractions but not feeling them. Hopefully you luck out like I did. Once I got put on the pitocin to speed up and increase the size of my contractions I definitely felt them!!!!! They change where the pain is depending on how the baby is positioned so all of the women are right- sometimes it's your back and sometimes it's like regular cramps, sometimes both.. You will know!!! :) Good luck with everything!
